Location
La Girondine is situated in St Exupéry 35 miles south east of Bordeaux city in the wine area known as the `Entre-Deux-Mers` so named because it lies between 2 wide rivers, the Dordogne to the north and the Garonne to the south. St Exupéry is 8 kms from the small bastide town, Sauveterre de Guyenne, which has all shops including a supermarket. St Exupéry is a quiet hamlet of 10 houses and a church but has no shops. The nearest shop is in Morizés, 2 kms away. The area is ideal for bicycling and hiking. The old railway line between Sauveterre and Bordeaux now provides 55kms of idyllic, dedicated cycle track. A hiking trail (chemin de randonnée) opposite the house leads down to the Vignague river. (fishing permits available form the mairie of St Exupéry).
