General Description
A comfortable newly built and furnished bungalow, set in park like grounds with its own private access drive and gardens, situated in the village Mareuil sur Lay, Vendée.
The size and layout of the house makes it perfect for family holidays. We can also accommodate couples, single people (golfers, fishermen, etc.).
The state of the art "douche Italienne" and extra wide doors make this fabulous property wheelchair friendly.
The fabulous golden sandy beaches are amongst the finest and safest in France. However you choose to spend your time, relaxing or exploring the beautiful Vendée, you will find there is plenty to see and do for all.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms
There are two bedrooms (one with double bed and one with two singles, or, should there be 5 of you: one single bed and one bunkbed).
The shower room is a full wet room with "Douche Italienne". It also has a wash basin and toilet.

Living Areas
The house comprises a lounge / dining room with French doors opening on to the garden. There is a 3 seater sofa and 2 chairs. The house is comfortable and nicely decorated.

Kitchen / Dining
There is a good sized, modern, fully-fitted open- plan kitchen with built in oven and hob, fridge freezer and washing machine.
We have a dining table with 5 chairs to complete the dining area.

Outside
The grounds are a haven for wildlife and the red squirrels can often be seen playing and "stashing" nuts from the walnut trees. Depending on the time of year, you may hear the toads croaking around the pond, see a rabbit or hedgehog, and if you are really lucky catch a glimpse of a kingfisher. Bird lovers can also look out for our "resident" woodpeckers (both green and great spotted) cuckoo, jays, hoopoes, red starts and countless other songbirds and birds of prey soaring overhead.
Garden furniture is available.

Location
Situated along a quiet back-road, yet within easy walking distance of the town Mareuil Sur Lay, our Gîte, Maison L`Écureuil Rouge ( Red Squirrel House ),is a new, light and airy bungalow, built in a quiet corner of the 4.5 acre park like gardens of the main house.
For the privacy and comfort of our guests, Maison L`Écureuil Rouge has its own private driveway, parking and south-facing garden with mature trees offering some welcome shade in the summer months.
The size and layout of the house makes it perfect for family holidays. We can also accommodate couples, single people (golfers, fishermen, etc.) and the property is wheelchair friendly.

Changeover Details
Arrival and departure is on Saturdays, arrival should be after 16.00 hrs and departure before 10.00 hrs. Off-season change-over days are flexible.
All guests are kindly requested to leave the house clean and tidy as found on arrival.
Weekend and short breaks: These are available outside high season at a cost of £ 50.00 / ˆ 75.00 per night, minimum 2 nights.
Longer term rentals may be available by negotiation, please don`t hesitate to ask.

Extra Details
There is a further room housing the hot water tank which can accommodate another bed, if required, and an "auvent" (a covered terrace area) with views over the garden. This was designed specifically for "dining al fresco"… perfect for wining and dining until the early hours!
Every room of the house benefits from floor tiling.
There are indoor and outdoor games for the children and a selection of English language books for all.
Cot and high-chair available on request.
A welcome pack (essential tea and coffee making ingredients etc.) awaits your arrival.
Pets are welcome on request only. If you bring a pet we will increase the security deposit. We do not allow pets on our furniture or beds. Please make sure that your pet does not damage anything and please make sure that "accidents" in the garden are cleared away.
We welcome smokers but, for the benefit of all our guests, we kindly request that you refrain from smoking inside the house. The covered terrace is perfect to enjoy a cigarette after your meal.
