Property Details

General Description
The house is detached and stands in an acre of land, there is a large patio area leading into the garden and it contains a bench seat, picnic table, BBQ, sun loungers and an ornamental well and washing line. As the garden is not fully enclosed, young children would need to be supervised.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms
First floor has a spacious master bedroom with a double bed, vaulted ceiling with exposed oak beams, wardrobes and chest of drawers, period chair to enjoy the views from and an en-suite shower room with basin and WC.

There is also a lovely small separate sitting room with views over
the garden containing a very comfortable fold up single bed. and cot.

Living Areas
The Living area has a wood burning fire, two 2 seater sofas, TV (receives satellite free 2 view BBC channels plus some others), Video, CD player, selection of books, Videos and CDs.

Kitchen / Dining
The kitchen is fully fitted with modern units an electric hob, fan assisted oven, extractor fan, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, toaster, cutlery, crockery and utensils. Table and chairs to seat 4.

Outside
There is a large drive to the side of the cottage offering off road parking, the garden is laid mainly to lawn with extensive flower borders on either side.

Location
The town has a small but beautiful château and grounds dating from the 12th century which are open to the public. Thre are many free open air concerts held there over the summer months.

The ramparts provide a view over the town, the little river Chère, a fishing lake and the surrounding area including "l`Eglise de Bere", a well-visited Romanesque church. Throughout the summer months the château and bandstand within the grounds are host to numerous open air concerts and theatrical productions, many of which are free. The more modern parts of the town are represented by the "theatre de verre" (the glass theatre), a bowling alley, a cinema and the Olympic sized swimming pool.

There are a variety of restaurants and street cafés which willingly accommodate children and suit all palettes and pockets. You can sample the world famous "Chateaubriant" steak and don`t forget to try the "Galette de Ble Noir" (a pancake made with buckwheat flour) served with a bowl of cider. The night life consists of local bars and discotheques.

Changeover Details
Satursdays are changeover days during the peak season but more flexible the rest of the year. A 25% deposit secures a booking and the rates start at £200pw to £350pw, this is fully inclusive of all utilities, bedding, linen, towels (if requested) tea towels and a comprehensive supply of cleaning and other sundry goods such as loo rolls, bin bags, kitchen towels, detergent & fabric softner, washing up liquid as well as cooking & olive oils and condiments. Basically we try to provide everything other than food, drink & personal toiletries so that there is no need for our guests to stock up on things they won`t be able to use up in the space of a holiday. There is a £25pw winter fuel charge from April to October.

Extra Details
The local tourist board publish a booklet every summer containing ideas and information about all the events taking place in the area. Activities include 18 hole swin golf, croquet, archery, waterskiing, karting, paint-balling, paragliding, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and boating. It is also an ideal place for trecking, and horse riding. There are 4 riding centres within reach. Chateaubriant also has a racetrack where trotting races are held, a bit different but just as exciting as regular horse racing.

The regions also offers beautiful lakes, rivers, markets, fetes and the famous Foire de Bere (country show) which has been held in Chateaubriant since 1050 is from 10th to 13th September and not to be missed.
