Property Details

General Description
French Bed and Breakfast with the option of Evening Meals and excellent Local Wines or Self Catering accessible accommodation, La Coume is a renovated 17th Century farmhouse set in the rural heartland of the Languedoc-Rousillon region of France. The farmhouse and Gites are set in 200 acres of land, in a small secluded valley, which includes meadows, hills, woods, 2 streams and a small lake. You are welcome to explore the land around the farmhouse and Gites. A spectacular view of the surrounding countryside and Pyrenees can be seen from the top of the hills.

There are three Gites de France having been converted from an enclosed barn. They can be rented separately or as a combined unit for larger parties of up to 12 people. Two of the three Gites are wheelchair friendly, accessible and meeting the basic access requirements of those with reduced mobility. Each Gite has its own private patio overlooking the lake.

Living Areas
Upper floor only and sleeping 8 people in four bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are En-Suite and there are two further bedrooms with a large family sized bathroom (bath with shower over), between them. Lastours` entrance from the Grand hallway leads into an open-plan kitchen-diner with original old stone walls and beams. The kitchen is equipped with a hob and electric oven, larder fridge, washing machine and dishwasher. The living area has a view over the valley and lake. It has snug seats and a stereo and TV with DVD player so you can watch films (available from our DVD library). N.B. If you do not wish to miss your favourite films/programmes on Sky, then simply bring your card with you and we will supply you with a set top box .

Lastours with her fine staircase leading to the vaulted bedrooms offers that little something different for the family. This Gite`s huge, private balcony on the first floor has great views of the surrounding hillside and valley. As with all our Gites we have tried to offer you quality surroundings with modern conveniences to enable you to relax and enjoy your holiday. The balcony which can be accessed off the kitchen diner and one of the double bedrooms overlooks the lake and Sanglier (Wild Boar) enclosure. Throughout the Gite there is central heating to ensure that you can be cosy in the cooler months

Fully equipped kitchens and the ground floor Gites have access for wheelchair users people with disabilities

Swimming Pool
Fully wheelchair accessible swimming pool for people with disabilities and wheelchair users can use the electric electric hoist If a large group reserves the Gites it may have exclusive use of the pool

Outside
Beautiful rural and tranquil setting with view of the Pyrenees and surrounding valleys for the hill side

Location
The Languedoc-Rousillon region is located in the South West of France and enjoys over 300 days of sunshine each year.

Domaine de La Coume is in the Department of the Aude (11) which is still one of the more undiscovered areas of France.

The area is characterised by small hill-top villages, castles, spectacular scenery, hidden valleys and gorges as well as an interesting albeit bloody history.

This is Cathar Country and their fascination and legend lives on in the fabric of the countryside
