General Description
Are you looking to ``get away from it all?``. If so, then our cosy, converted barn in the tiny hamlet of La Jonchere, in the beautiful Puy de Dome region of the Auvergne, could be just the thing you need to recharge the batteries.
|
|
Living Areas
The accommodation is situated in a converted barn which is attached to the owners home.
Although we as the owners, are in close proximity to the barn, we are more than aware that privacy and tranquility are what our guests are looking for. We are on hand, however to offer advice and assistance should it be required.
Our converted barn currently comprises a mezzanine double bedroom, For 2006, we will have a second double bedroom, with private WC and washbasin in our converted stable, accessed from the exterior of the property. This will give a total possibility of four person accommodation.
There is a modern, airy bathroom, a cosy sitting room area, complete with a wood burning fire, again on a mezzanine open plan basis.
The emphasis is on old fashioned charm and character, blended in a sympathetic manner with all modern conveniences, to make for a comfortable and hassle free holiday.

Kitchen / Dining
A modern, well equipped kitchen area links with an open plan diner. From here the door opens out to the front and rear terraces, where meals can be taken
al-fresco.

Outside
Our nearest village of St Gervais d`Auvergne is a five minute car drive away, and boasts all usual amenities including a mini supermarket, several good boulangeries, pharmacy and post office.
It is possible to enjoy many outdoor leisure activities here in the Auvergne, from watersports and fishing, to cycling, walking and even skiing during the winter months. It is also possible however to sit and totally relax and take in some breathtaking scenery in miles and miles of beautiful unspoiled countryside.
The new interactive volcanic Visitors Centre of Vulcania is around forty minutes drive from our Gite.
We are around an hour from the beautiful skiing area of Sancy, and Le Mont Dore, which is as stunning during the summer months as it is in the winter.
The famous spa town of Vichy is again around one hours drive from us, as is Clermont Ferrand, the home of Michelin.
The area around us is also excellent for motorcycling holidays, and has some great twisty, relatively traffic free roads on which to get out and have fun.
|
|
Location
The Auvergne lends itself to a wide range of outdoor leisure pursuits, including watersports, walks, varying from gentle strolls to mountain hikes, cycling, and even skiing during the winter months. We are blessed with a wonderful local selection of restaurants and bars, from which to savour traditional Auvergnian cuisine.
